Mages are a tricky class to gauge performance on, particularly in leveling speed. Put a mage with the best gear possible in the hands of an amateur and you have one of the worst levelers in the game. On the flip-side with an experienced player behind the class it becomes one of those oft-mentioned speed demons.
Leveling a Mage in World of Warcraft can be a real pain in the butt if you're not really familiar with how the class works. However once you get a good spell rotation down that is not so hard on the mana and get some decent gear you're ready to cruise through the levels.
Questing is hard work...but also the best method of leveling. Whether you're new to the game or you can walk from Orgrimar to Thunderbluff with a blind fold on, knowing where you're going is crucial. In questing at its simplest is going from point A to point B, doing something at point B, then returning to point A. As you can imagine point A and B are seldom right next to each other. This means that if you don't know where point B is, you're going to be spending a lot of your time trying to find it. This can be difficult and exactly the type of thing a
WOW mage leveling guide can help you with.
Grind is not fun, regardless of how much AOE damage you can create No my friend grinding is not very fun at all. This type of leveling will work better for players who like to solo. I've learnt from the leveling guide for horde is refers to using AoE abilities. This strategy works for classes with powerful AoE spells and skills, like mages. If you're a rogue, don't bother trying to do this, it will be a waste of time.
Before to start, make sure to have enough food and water, potions and buffs to improve your character as much as possible. Look for a camp with large amounts of mobs, 3-4 levels lower than you. Pull as many mobs as you can without dying. Again, a skilled mage can pull a whole camp and kill them all without any hassle. The spawn rate of the mobs in the camp must be pretty fast so you don't have to wait too long. If you clear the camp too easily, don't wait for the mobs to spawn, find another camp nearby and make some pulls there until the mobs in the previous camp spawn. This method also brings a nice amount of cash, green items and cloth.
Once you have the right build for your Mage consider a full blown
1-80 Mage leveling guide for the most effective (fastest) leveling. Why? With thousands of quests and a million mobs to grind the trip to 80 can take awhile. A long while. An in-game leveling guide, like Zygor's Guide, automates the whole 1-80 path for your mage, or start from any level and use Zygor's to blast to the finish.
